Application
Assesses two-dimensional visuomotor coordination between eye and hand.
Sensomotor coordination plays a very important role in everyday life. This test is an enhanced version of “Le test du double labyrinthe“ by Bonnardel, which is routinely used in French traffic psychology. This special ability test is used in traffic psychology and clinical neuropsychology. In the field of personnel psychology it is used in manufacturing & safety assessments.
Administration
Two independent balls move at a predetermined constant speed along a narrow winding pathway. The respondent maneuvers each ball with a twist knob (the left hand controls the left-hand ball and vice versa). If one or both of the balls touches the edge a signal sounds and the respondent must adjust the ball’s course. The test phase is preceded by a 40-second practice phase.

One test form.
Scoring
The following main variables are scored:
- Error duration: Sum of error duration – left hand and error duration – right hand.
- Error duration left/right hand: The time during which only the left/right ball touches the edge.
- Percentage error duration: The error duration as a percentage of the total time.
- Percentage error duration left/right hand: The error duration of the left/right hand as a percentage of the total time.
- Number of errors: Total number of times the two balls touch the edge – measure of the respondent’s sensomotor coordination ability.
- Number of errors – left/right hand: Total number of times the left/right ball touches the edge.
