Application
Measures implausible attention performance in neuropsychological studies.
There are clear indications from both clinical practice and neuropsychological research that a significant percentage of patients deliberately simulates cognitive impairments. The simulation is motivated by external incentives. Such incentives could be, for example, compensation, improved working conditions, medical prescription of stimulants or advantageous conditions in a school or academic context.
As a symptom validity test, the main area of application of the GET is in clinical neuropsychology as well as health psychology. The test is suitable for examining adults with psychiatric and neurological disorders, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or brain damage (such as after a stroke or cranio-cerebral trauma).
