Application
Measures perseveration tendency.
The operationalization uses Mittenecker’s approach. The test enables the user to make differential statements about the respondent’s perseveration tendency – i.e. to identify whether behavior is stereotyped and rigid or flexible and adaptable. Healthy individuals tend to display only a low level of perseveration, while in a number of clinical groups (e.g. schizophrenia patients) abnormal perseveration scores are obtained. This test is therefore used in clinical neuropsychology.
Administration
Nine large circles are shown scattered about the screen. In addition, beeps are sounded at the rate of 64 per minute. The respondent’s task is to press on the circles in random order in time with the beeps.
